How do I clean plexiglas?

The following instructions are copied from Rplastics.com

The Number 1 Problem with Plexiglas acrylic is the use of incorrect cleaners. Yes, we said "cleaners". Please... never, ever, use cleaners containing ammonia. Cleaners such as Windex or 409 will harm your new piece of acrylic. Use only products specifically recommended for cleaning acrylic such as Novus #1, or Brillianize, and a soft cloth. (All are available in our showrooms). Never use a dry cloth or your hand to clean your acrylic! This rubs the dirt and dust INTO the acrylic as much as it rubs it OFF. First, blow the dust or dirt off, or use water and a soft cloth to float the dirt off. Then use a recommended cleaner to complete the job. Note: a mild solution of dish detergent and warm water takes off stubborn dirt easily without harming the acrylic if you've run out of Novus #1 or Brillianize.

How long does it take before it ships?

Each frame is made to order.  Generally ship time is 10-14 days.  You will be informed when you place your order if there is an exception to this time frame.

What is your return policy?

We do accept returns if you are not happy with your frame.  You will pay for the shipping on the return trip.  When the frame is received in good condition you will be refunded the cost of the frame.  It is very important to us that you are happy with your frame and get exactly what you want and expect.  Please call with questions.

Is there a way to match the wood to something in my house?

Absolutely.  Best is an actual sample of the color you would like us to match.  Next best is an emailed picture.  We will use a combination of the right wood and stain to get as close as possible.  We will send out wood and stain samples on request to help in the matching process.

How does it mount to the wall?

The basic frames have a heavy duty hook and mount on a screw like a standard picture frame.  The lighted frames have a nailer strip on the top and bottom of the wall mount box that will accept a screw through it and into a stud.  The stud does not need to be centered within the frame.

Does the window come assembled?

Yes.  It is our goal to ship the frame ready to hang as possible.  The only tools needed are to screw the frame into the wall.

Can I get it painted another color?

Yes.  Send us a paint chip or the paint name and make and we will have a can mixed locally.

Do you do a distressed or “shabby sheik” finish?

Yes.  There are many versions of distressed frames from weathered barn wood to crackled paint.  It helps if you have a picture of what you are looking for and we will try to match that.

How bright are the lights?

The light in the classic light box lights up the picture nicely giving a feeling of light coming from a window.  It does not really add much light to the room though.  On the deluxe frame, there are more lights within the box and more light output, that said it will add light to a room but could be considered accent lighting, not something that you would read a book by.

Is there a cord on the lighted version?

Yes, the cord is white, about 10 feet long and has a switch that hangs about 12” from the bottom of the frame.

Can it run on batteries?

No, the batteries would not last an significant amount of time relative to daily use.

Can I inset it into the wall?

Yes.  Both the classic and deluxe frames can be mounted into a wall.  There is only a slight modification that we make to the frame.  Let us know when you order your frame.   Inset frames need to be hardwired by an electrician.  Call for exact opening dimensions.

How do I clean plexiglas?

Does it really look like a window?

These frames are as close as it gets.  Designed by Robert Renick after 10 years of building custom wood windows and doors, these frames are real windows, it is the view that is not real.

I like the frame but I don’t see a picture that I like.

Finding the right picture is the key to the perfect view.  Follow the links under the pictures on the “View” page to see more from the artists.  If you still want to browse you can search the web, we will be happy to use any print that you like.

Can I use my own picture?

Absolutely.  Send us a high resolution digital file and we will have it edited, blown up, mounted and shipped in your frame ready to go.  This service is $10 regardless of size.  Additional charges will apply if we have to do any editing.

Do I need the plexiglas?

Why plexiglas instead of regular glass?

Shipping.  Regular glass is easier to clean and is more scratch resistant.  A single sheet of glass in a frame is unlikely to make it in one piece through the shipping process.  Therefore we sell and will ship the plexiglas.  If regular glass is preferred, your local glass shop, hardware store or picture frame shop will have glass for your frame.

Do I need the plexiglas?

It depends on the environment.  If you are in a clean area and a light swish with a feather duster will clean the picture, no, you don’t really need the glass or plexiglas.  The advantage to covering the picture is that it will last longer and be easier to clean.  Plexiglas does protect the image from UV rays and helps prevent fading.
